8 Makeup Tips Spring 2011

With spring in the air, we must brighten up a little and revive our makeup kit. Everything revives, blooms and becomes more colorful. Get ready to turn eyes with stunning, delicious shades. From
fresh, soft, sun-kissed faces and natural, dense eyebrows to bold fuchsias and neon eyeshadows, take a look at these spring 2011 makeup tips in order to perfectly reflect this season's atmosphere.

Spring is the season when emotions come to life, we feel full of optimism and creativity, we fall in love and smiling seems to be the easiest thing ever. Following the same pattern, our wardrobes and makeup routine should also be refreshed and updated a little.

This season, flawless is so hot. And by this we mean a youthful, glowing, fresh-looking skin. For a perfect result, it is advisable to invest in a good, high-quality foundation. Keep in mind that the texture and the color of the foundation are essential if you want an impeccable look. However, if you wish for a more sensual approach, use a glossy highlighter on the center of your cheekbones, under the eyebrows and on the arch of your lips.

Sexy sculpted, sun-kissed cheeks will always represent a sign of femininity and seduction. You'll look absolutely stunning, irresistible and elegant with a translucent skin and a bronzing blush as seen at Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino or Chloe. On the other hand, a pink or peachy blush as seen at Sportmax, Frankie Morello, or House of Holland draws the attention through the natural, fresh effect it creates.

This summer, rainbows are not just in the sky, but also on the eyes. Vibrant red, emerald-green, fuchsia or neon blue are some of the hottest colors for the forthcoming season. It seems that the winning texture is the matte one. The trend was spotted at Rochas, Derek Lam, but also Christian Dior who matched bright eyeshadows with red lips. Still, if this is too edgy for you, stick to a safer rule that means using strong colors for the eyes and neutrals for the lips. This way you’ll get a natural look.

Smoky is on-trend again. However, it’s time to try something different in order to get a mysterious appearance. The classic technique of obtaining the already known smoky effect by using an eyeshadow combination is replaced by one homogeneous, metallic shade applied on both eyelids. We have seen this smoky metallic at Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Just Cavalli.

Candy is the new red when it comes to your lips. Therefore, don’t be afraid to try vibrant, deliciously-colored pink or purple shades turning your lips into an eye-catching accessory. What you need to do is to find a solid, matte texture for maximum impact. If you want to intensify the effect, apply a soft foundation layer on the lips and only after that use the lipstick, then dab the lips, apply some powder, and finally, generously apply another lipstick coat. Draw your inspiration from Moschino Cheap& Chic, Jil Sander, Diane Von Furstenberg.

We have seen that the forthcoming season means matte textures and bubble gum hues when it comes to the lipstick we choose. If you are not the daring type, but you still want to add some color to your makeup, choose a coral lipstick. This is a safe, smart option for all of you who are afraid to put more emphasis on your lips.

If tangerine is on clothes, orange is for makeup. Indeed, we can see a real orange revolution for spring/summer 2011 (Christian Dior, Kenzo, Moschino). Thus, whether we are talking about lipstick, eyeshadow or nail polish, orange is so 'in' this season. Still, since we crave for candy-colored, delicious lips, hot-hued lipsticks are the first to pop up into our minds. For a dazzling effect, you should match the color of your lips with that of the nails and keep the rest of your makeup simple.

As for the eyebrows, there are two extremes for spring/summer 2011. First, there is the uber-natural trend, seen at Moschino, Paul Smith or Salvatore Ferragamo, with brows looking fuller. Then, there are the over-contoured eyebrows spotted at Manish Arora and Kenzo. On the other hand, there are certain designers (Valentino, Marc Jacobs) who bleached the eyebrows, yet maintain their natural, dense shape. Bleaching brightens up your look and emphasizes the color of your eyes.
