The latest ad for Vera Wang's 'Lovestruck' fragrance was finally revealed, with actress Leighton Meester looking stunning as she poses nicely in a dreamy,
gorgeous burgundy gown. Leighton appears in the print advertising and in a TV commercial, while the perfume is set to hit stores on June 5 in the U.K. and in August in the U.S.
The modern Shakespearean story of Romeo and Juliet seems to revive in the new ad campaign for Vera Wang's 'Lovestruck' fragrance. A balcony, a girl and a boy is all we need in order to recreate the scenario of an eternal love. This time, a New York City fire escape, Leighton Meester and an irresistible boy are the main characters in this fairytale.
The lovely 25-year-old 'Gossip Girl' actress wears a breathtaking Vera Wang dress and looks alluring despite the fact that the ad was shot on a cold winter day on Mercer Street in SoHo. While everyone was comfy and cozy in jackets and parkas, Leighton was the only one freezing in a strapless gown. "Everyone else was in three parkas and Leighton is standing there in a strapless evening dress with a very thin fabric," said Wang.
Still, the young actress had a lot of fun up there and she laughs remembering the moment. "I was above it all, literally. So I was just kind of entertaining myself — I did a little singing, did a little dance," Leighton told WWD.
This modern love story draw the attention of people passing by. "When I heard tourists saying, 'I want to look like her,' I knew we were right on the money. There’s nothing like the real client in the street, and I mean the street literally — and in windows literally," Vera Wang admitted.
Leighton signed a great two-year contract, which is said to worth $3 million. As for choosing Meester as the face of their latest fragrance, Vera Wang said that, "Meester’s beauty, talent, and spirit will inspire all the young women that I hope will enjoy this passionate, new young fragrance."
The creative director of the campaign was Trey Laird, while Carter Smith was the man behind the camera. 'Lovestruck' will hit stores on June 5 in the U.K. and in August in the U.S.
Vera Wang characterizes 'Lovestruck' as "all about being overwhelmed, inexplicably, hopelessly in love. Allowing yourself to feel passion inspite of yourself, the situation, the repercussions. A new definition of Romeo and Juliet! Sexy, sensual, and unstoppable!"
